When I pass this sign, which happens to remind me of a colleague.
So I take the exit to find out what Prewitt is all about. This is already a good sign: Thoreau is one of my heros.
A first taste of Prewitt.
The local merchantile. It is convenient to have pawn, groceries, jewelry and gas (not to mention hardware and livestock, in previous picture) all in the same location. The post office is the building in the middle, and that's my current rental car. This location is the closest thing there is to a "downtown" Prewitt.
Prewitt is a small railroad town.
Prewittians are a God-fearing people and there are almost more churches than people.
This one is a combination church/used car lot.
Prewitt isn't very far from Paradise.
A typical Prewitt residence. (There is some rain in the air.)
The number of tires on ones roof indicates ones social standing within the community. Note the low status of the resident in the background.
Another Prewitt residence. This one is ready to set sail.
The ants of Prewitt. (Since I saw no people in Prewitt, these folks will have to do.)
This one is saying, "Back off, Dude!"
A local public service message that we should all pay attention to.
The rest of the photos are all railroad shots (consistent with my genetic predisposition)....
